How are body image and self esteem related?

Physical appearance directly affects your self-esteem. Having scars, misaligned teeth or a few extra kilos usually lower your self-esteem but this shouldn’t be the case. Try putting some make-up, wearing braces, start exercising and getting a diet plan, things like that will boost your self-esteem.

Body image also refers to how you think others judge you about your looks. If you’re positive about your body image, you’ll act in a confident and healthy way while having negative thoughts about your appearance will probably restrict you from social gatherings.

People with negative perceptions of their body image usually have a low self-esteem. Self-esteem refers to your confidence level and your ability to appreciate and enjoy what you are doing. self esteem

People with high self-esteem have a healthy lifestyle, are confident about their work and have a great individual character.  Low self-esteem people are not that confident about themselves and don’t appreciate what they do. They’re always sad and depressed with their lives. Self-esteem may also refer to your perceptions of how other people look at you, just as in case of body image. It’s important to live with high self-esteem and a positive body image. This encourages you to achieve your ambitions and allow you to interact with people in a positive and confident manner. Positive body image and self esteem give you the power of self-belief which is a very important aspect of decision making and this attribute is seen in most successful personalities. People with low self-esteem can’t progress as they’re not able to believe in themselves.

There are different ways to get rid of low self-esteem. For instance, one should focus on health and fitness, take a walk or listen to music and relax for a bit whenever he’s in frustration. It’s also important not to worry about what other’s think about you, just be who you are and feel happy about it.
